Weddings...

I know it has been a little while since my last post but their really havn't been any major events that deserve the right to a blog post. However, working in a tuxedo shop and previously working in a jewelry store has given me the idea to blog about my opinions of weddings for just a second...

Congratulations your engaged! Call everyone celebrate and start planning, right? Yep! I have come to find that this special happy landmark in everyone's lives seems to bring out the finer points in everyone's personalities. Suddenly the littlest detail becomes life or death. ITS MY DAY DAMN IT!  ugh.

Let's start with the dress...Has to be perfect. Price is not a deciding factor....because after all according to WE network its the most important garment you will ever wear (in my opinion underwear serves to be far more handy but hey call me practical)

And now the wedding bands...again, perfect perfect perfect...right down the engraving on the inside of the band that is so small no one will ever notice the fact that the letters are block instead of script, that is if you ever take the thing off.

Venue...ok big part of the whole thing. And many places are nice enough to include things like a cake, linens, and catering. Ladies, taste test. If the food is good ur golden.

Flowers...pretty, but not worth 10 grand. Mix it up a bit and get creative with centerpieces etc. There is no need to have a special rose flown in from south africa for your boquet that you are going to end up chucking across a room anyway....

Anddddd my favorite! Tuxedos! (bet you can't tell why) This i could go on for days about. "Hunny, which silver do you like? The light or the dark? Do you like the stripe? Does it stand out too much? Maybe it doesn't 'pop' like it should" Groom: "umm...its fine. Whatever you want" Bride: "but your the one wearing it" ....."ok fine i like the dark silver" ...."ugh really? I think that one blends in, is there a way we can do a dark brown vest with a black tux?" NO! Jesus pick the color and move on with your lives!!!!!!!!! Dark brown looks like black under a black tux. Your fault for picking a "chocolate" bridesmaids dress and hating the fact that you need "chocolate" colored tuxes to match.

And I looove the people who order the tux and then call me to double check that the tux has been ordered. "Hi I booked my tuxedos with you guys a few weeks ago" Yes. "I just want to make sure the tuxes were ordered" yes. It was ordered 3 weeks ago...."can you check" yes its being ordered. "and it will be here on time?" yes. "are you sure? cause the wedding is an hour away" yes. "and what about the groomsmen?" yes they will be here too. "and everyone got fitted" yes. "ok even matt?" yes. ok good.

I used to be a person who was obsessed with weddings. They were the most magical day of a girls life. Id have to say Im a bit on the jaded side at this point. Its just one day. 5 hours to be exact. Everybody breathe. Trust me. No one is going to hold it against you if you picked the champagne flutes with the hearts rather than the bows.....

With all that said, for all of you who do know me, well, you know I'm not serious about having a bbq in the backyard (although ive been quoted from time to time about wanting to do this rather than an extravaganza) but lets get serious here....

Plans Plans Plans

So. I don't know about you. But I feel like every time I seem to get my life in order everything changes. Its like living in one of those toys with the colored liquid. You turn it upside down and color goes everywhere making wheels turn and flowing down all these different paths. But finally that all settles down the bottom to a nice resting place...until someone flips it again anyway. Well, I feel like someone is constantly turning the one I live in...to the point where nothing ever settles and I can't seem to get anything in order because nothing is EVER constant enough for me to call it "in order". It is rather frustrating and truly annoying.

I understand that life changes all the time. But a little breathing time would be nice...and useful. So whoever is in control of my toy and keeps turning it over and over again, knock it off.

Apples to Apples

So it has taken me a couple of days to write this post because I had to come out of my apple coma before I had any strength to write about them. So my girls from high school and I decided it would be fun to go apple picking on Sunday and then come back and cook/bake with the apples we picked. Sounds like a cute corny fun idea for fall right? Well naturally whenever my disney obsessed/super planner friend organizes anything it always turns into an extravaganza. :)

We started with Pumpkin Spice Lattes :) so far so good. Apple picking was fun. Found a little girl named Shana...what are the odds. So anywho we go back to Jen's where the five of us each pick a different recipe and make it...thats right, 5. And to top it off we had a chicken dish with an APPLE topping for dinner, with a side dish of APPLE almond salad. For dessert we ended up with APPLE crisp over vanilla ice cream thanks to yours truely :) Then APPLE rice pudding, APPLE  and pear cobbler, APPLE muffins, and you guessed it APPLE pie :) (gluten free for Alicia) APPLE cake with a frosting drizzle, and don't forget the hot APPLE cider. As a lovely parting gift we all got a fifth of the APPLES that we had picked. After re-reading this the pumpkin spice latte sounds a bit out of place don't you think?

Here I go again on my own

Yay congrats I've made it to another Friday. However I was called in to work in our Millburn store for the day. Its not so bad but the tux shop is in the basement...no windows, alone as usual. :/ However I do take my occasional strole upstairs to grad a snack, use the little girls room and check out some really expensive Vera Wang dresses :)
Working here is intersting and there are a few things I'd like to point out at this time. First, their are 2 refirgerators in the break room...2! But no food in either. I hope they all brought sandwiches. I've also got my eye on a dress (no I'm not engaged) but I still want to put this thing on! Is is totally crazy if I do? I'm not sure Ill be able to hold out much longer if I keep working here...
Tomorrow night is dinner at Dev's sister Stephanie's house with his dad. I'm sure Ill have something to report. So far this is a fairly boring blog and I appologize for it. :P

Going to the movies...

So last night Dev and I went to the movies for free movie tuesdays :) Yeah. Well, we saw The Expendables and I was distubed enough to feel the need to analyze this movie here. This movie was horribly discusting and I ended up watching the back of my chair rather than the screen. See, I am not the typical girlie girl but. This does seem to be one of those things that I just can't enjoy. Within the first 30 seconds of the movie some guy gets blown in half! As in, feet stay where they are and upper half hits the wall 50ft behind him. Wow. Don't even know what the hell is goin on yet. Ok ok so this just continues for 2 1/2 hrs. It was one of those movies where people just sit there and make ughhhh ohhhh yuckk aaauuggghhh noises ever 15 seconds. Yummm. Lets get some dinner now.

Needless to say I did not enjoy my movie date last night. I ended up going home and watching Finding Nemo to sort of counter act the nasty I had just witnessed. What better than bright orange talking fish...and to boot I didn't sleep due to the numerous previews on the devil coming to take over my body in my sleep....woot.

On the up side we went to Fridays :) haha going out to dinner is good...and we had a successful trip to Kohls. I promise their will be a happy post coming soon. When Im not exausted :P

You come to know my bad luck quickly...

I woke up yesterday morning psyched to go to the annual chester craft fair that I usually go to with my mom every year. But of course when i open the blinds its pouring. Great. I also have the strangest sore throat I've ever had. Ok nothing tylenol can't fix. And to top it off my "little friend" decides to show up. Woot.
So now I need to decide what I want to do. Devin and I decide to go because I really need to get this cute little angel for my mom for christmas because her original broke in the move. :( (Her luck is somewhat similar to mine) I get there, pay $5 to park and another $10 to get in to realize 45 soaking cold minutes later that the one vendor I need is not here this year. FML. My only comfort was having a nice lunch with Dev and sharing wine and magazines with Nicole later on.

O yea and they are also cutting 18hrs of work for me out of my schedule :) Sorry if I sound like a complainer but damn at least spread this stuff out a bit so its a tad easier to digest.

A First Time For Everything

To whomever has no life enough to read this :) (j/k...kinda)

Welcome to my blog. I never really thought I would ever get into this, but thanks to my hell-of-a- blogger ex-roommate I've been inspired to start one of my own. I figure hey, I have the craziest stories ever...why not document them! Plus this will probably be a great way to vent lol. Not to mention all of the new found free computer time I have working for a tuxedo shop. Where I sit. For 9 hours a day. By myself...awesome.

So anywho lets talk about something interesting for five minutes....well that was fun. I have nothing to share as of right now. Today has been slow and boring and to end it I am probaby getting my flu shot later. Best day ever. Maybe tomorrow will bring a new Shana story to the table. Who knows.
